Funerals and memorial services are an opportunity to celebrate the life of the deceased while bringing some comfort to the family and friends. I understand it is a very difficult time for family or loved ones left behind, and arranging a funeral can be daunting, especially as it usually has to be organised in a short period of time, whilst each person involved is dealing with their own grief. I would be honoured to work with you to create a memorable service for your loved one.

Saying Goodbye

I understand it is a very difficult time for family or loved ones left behind, and arranging a funeral can be daunting, especially as it usually has to be organised in a short period of time, whilst each person involved is dealing with their own grief. I would be honoured to work with you to create a memorable service for your loved one.

Preparing Your Special Service

In preparing for a service, I spend time with the family and close friends, talking with them, and listening to stories about the deceased and learning about your loved one.

These conversations and the insights they give, provide much of the material for creating a meaningful, personal and respectful service which will be centered on their life.  Using what you tell me about your loved one, I will create a funeral or celebration of life service, that will honour the memory, give thanks for, and most importantly, give a true reflection, of your loved one’s life.

As well as any words or music you may wish to include, I can suggest poems, readings, prayers, blessings, music, songs and hymns which can be used to create a personal and unique service.

The ceremony can be traditional or contemporary, formal or relaxed, semi-religious or non-religious, to reflect your wishes and the wishes of the deceased.

Sometimes I am called in when someone is very ill, so that we can meet in person, get to know them and learn from them what would be important in their service.

Joanna and Peter

You took the happy and the sad stories about our son and wove them into a beautiful ceremony.

Denise

Thank you for the eloquent and comforting celebration of life service. You made us feel you’d been a dear friend of our beloved mother.

Ceremony Location

I conduct services in funeral homes, at gravesides, in mausoleums, and at the location where ashes are scattered.

Each funeral ceremony is completely customised from start to finish, honouring the person who has died. The ceremony focuses on everything that made that person special and unique. Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to take part to express their own thoughts and feelings and say goodbye in ways that have meaning for themselves and all those present. This can be through readings, poems, live music, or personal tributes.

I am there to guide you and to help with writing, order of service, and preparation. and will deliver as much or as little of the funeral as you wish. If you wish, I will write and give the eulogy, based on all that you have told me about your loved one.

The Legalities

Please be aware that in addition to your ceremony, the legal registration of all deaths in England and Wales must also take place at your local registry office.  Contact your local registry office for more information https://www.gov.uk/register-offices.
